Two different teams have paid tribute to the IHL Kansas City Blades since they have been gone, the San Jose Barracuda and Kansas City Mavericks.

The San Jose Barracuda of the AHL, the Sharks current NHL affiliate, had a tribute to the Blades on December 9, 2018. The tribute night was part of the 2018-2019 season’s five game throwback series the team held honoring Sharks affiliate teams. (Blades, Kentucky Thoroughblades, Cleveland Barons, Worcester Sharks, and Barracuda) The Barracuda wore Blades jerseys for the game. Blades alumni Tom Pederson and former Blades equipment manager Mike Aldrich were also in attendance.

The Kansas City Mavericks held a 90s night that paid tribute to the Blades on May 20, 2021. The Mavericks wore specialty jerseys that paid homage to the Blades. They also had a Meet and Greet experience with Blades General Manager Doug Soetaert and captain Gary Emmons. The 24-26-8-2 Mavericks beat the Allen Americans 4-3 with goals from Willie Corrin, Adam Brady, CJ Eick, and Matt Petgrave.
